Performing Arts

Elementary School students sing, dance, improvise, compose and play musical instruments. 

Classroom discussions center on the music being created, and are directed in such a way that students develop a vocabulary for discussing and understanding musical ideas. 

Music literacy skills are taught in developmentally appropriate ways so that students are empowered to independently engage in music-making. 
Beginning in fourth grade, all students learn to play a band or orchestra instrument and to sing in a vocal ensemble. 

NYSSMA STRING FESTIVALS UPDATE

• The NYSSMA String Festival Levels 1-4 will take place on April 4th and 5th at Valhalla High School.
• Down-County NYSSMA Festival (Strings Levels 5-6) will take place on May16th and 17th at White Plains High School.
• Talented Bronxville Elementary School fourth and fifth grade string students have been working hard to prepare for more than forty solo and or ensemble selections for participation in the upcoming festivals. We wish all of these students the best of luck for a successful and rewarding experience in their preparation and participation in this challenging musical event!
